Exciting news – Due to the demand, we will play two sessions of Euchre, twice monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. There will be one two hour session starting at 1000hrs and another at 1330hrs on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday
Initial and Future Meeting
The Euchre Group attracted 15 players for its inaugural meeting in January. For the vast majority of players this was a completely new game to play. With that in mind instruction was provided prior to the meeting, and with assistance from the veteran players, the games commenced.
Reviews from players who are new to the game:
A fun yet mentally challenging game. MG
An exceedingly well organised group offering a stimulating environment to learn a new game in a very friendly atmosphere. SM
We are really enjoying euchre. We'd never even heard of it before the group started but clear instructions have made it easy to learn. LN & RN
Subsequent gatherings are planned for the second Wednesday of each month, with two sessions. One at 10:00 and the other at 13:30.
If you wish to join the Group, please contact the group leader.
How To Play Euchre

Euchre is a trick-taking card game which involves a trump suit.
It is most commonly played with four people in two partnerships with a deck of 25 cards (all A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, plus 2 of spades).
Euchre is popular in regions of America, Canada, Channel Islands, Australia, New Zealand and UK (Cornwall and Devon) and soon to be, with your help, Stubbington. Euchre is played in the Royal Navy and may be familiar to some U3A members.
The group welcomes those just starting, through to the more seasoned players. There are many variations of the rules, however we will be closely following the Devon and Cornwall format. Guidance in play and strategy will be given.
