We have been in existence since the Autumn of 2024.

We meet in the morning on the last Friday of each month. The time depends on where we are visiting, but usually between 10.00 and 12.00. At an initial meeting, the members decided that we would keep it very local at first, and this is what we have done so far.

Since we formed, we have visited St Edmunds, HolyRood and St. Peter’s in Titchfield.
At each of these churches, we have been given talks by various knowledgeable local speakers. We also went to the Fareham Museum before it closed, the Military Heritage Museum in Park Gate where the the speaker talked about Canadian soldiers being billeted on the site of the Community Hospital, prior to embarking for D Day.

More recently , we have been to Cams Hall, where the company that owns it, has refurbished the meeting rooms beautifully. They laid on an exhibition of old photographs and maps detailing the history of the hall.

Last month we were treated to a talk at Titchfield Abbey by Colin and Marilyn Wilton-Smith. The couple are employed by English Heritage as caretakers of the Abbey and are happy to give talks to schools and local groups about Titchfield.

We have ideas about where we shall go in the coming months. These include Portsmouth, Southwick and Gosport, so going a bit further afield.
