Lunching and socializing seems to be a very popular activity, judging by our normally good turn-outs. The club’s formula of alternating pub lunches and restaurant meals seems to go down well, so to speak. At present, the club is full, limited by the fact that it is not possible to take huge groups to most places. I maintain a small waiting list of three or four people, which is also currently full. In fact, waiting list members are able to join in lunches most months as there are usually a couple of regular members who are unable to attend for one reason or another.
I should point out that Lunch Club 2 is the only lunch club that has men among its members. It has always been that way and I want to keep it as a mixed group, as there is no other lunch club that a man can join and not be in a minority of one. Currently, most of our members are couples, along with three single ladies and a single man. As new members apply, I will try to keep a balance between men and women.
As mentioned, Lunch Club 2 continues to offer a variety of venues for its members. In the last few months we have been to The Black Dog pub in Waltham Chase, DimT restaurant in Whiteley, the Talisman pub in Park Gate, Avenue 141 fine dining at Fareham College, The Fighting Cocks pub in Gosport, Casa Brazil Brazilian restaurant in Port Solent, The Delme Arms pub in Fareham, and Yaprak Turkish Restaurant in Locks Heath.
